Sartorial Surprise

March 2, 2011

Oh, the dreaded fat day. Come on, I know you’ve all had them. Those mornings when you wake up and no matter what you put on you feel fat, ugly, and all you really want to do is blob around on your couch wearing a muumuu. Unfortunately, yesterday’s schedule did not accommodate my desire to lounge around in a shapeless dress; instead I had to be uptown, downtown, and everywhere in between.

Now, living in New York has made my “fat days” a little easier as we all know the New Yorker uniform is an all black ensemble. But, being that yesterday was a serious laundry day, I was forced to dress outside my comfort zone and opted for a pair of extra long pants that can only be worn with some serious heels; thus adding some major length to my legs (a “fat day” must). For my top I went with something a little more loose fitting and added a bit of shape to it with a drapey leather jacket. After putting this outfit together, I admit that I liked it so much I completely forgot about how gross I felt when I woke up yesterday morning! Maybe my laundry and “fat days” should coordinate more often so that they fall on the same days…

I get your point about the high heels, I’m 5 feet so I easily feel fat, and when I put on some heels, it feels like I elongate my legs. It’s like you body is in the upwards position instead of any other position. You look fabulous by the way, the black pants Is a fabulous choice, but I love your accessories, that bag is simple divine. So fabulous with the jacket. You don’t look fat, you look very stylish

Or you could just throw on an amazing outfit on your “fat days” so you can feel and look amazing. Easier than doing laundry.
