Christmas Workshop

December 14, 2010

One of my favorite things about the holidays is all the crafting that comes with them. Halloween calls for spooky ghosts and jack-o-lanterns, Thanksgiving is all about autumnal colors and festive centerpieces, and Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without glittery ornaments, twinkly lights and tons of wintery decorations interspersed throughout the house. This Friday I’m heading home to San Francisco for the holiday and I’ve already begun pulling together new and fun craft ideas to try out. So in between my gingerbread house making, cookie baking, and tree decorating, here are a few other holiday crafts that I can’t wait to display around the house.

twisted felt garland (DIY here)

glittered magazine Christmas trees (tutorial here) •

now I know what to do with all those unused cookie cutters! •

glittered pumpkins may be great for Thanksgiving (see here) but these detailed painted pumpkins are perfect for Christmas tabletops and mantles (DIY here) •

groups of ribbon tied ornaments look colorful and festive hanging from light fixtures •

fir tree place-card holders (here) are the perfect way to use up those extra bits of tree trimmings •
